After publishing my initial thoughts last January about Goldbacks® and the only Aurum Silverback currently available, there has been a notable uptick in coverage on the Valaurum® product that evaluates its authenticity and practicality. I regret not being aware of the collectible and numismatic value before publishing Part 1 and promptly began gifting Goldbacks to my family’s younger generation as a unique and affordable way of introducing them to the principles of investing in “sound money.”
“A private mint in Oregon with an exclusive worldwide license for proprietary technology to print micro-layers of atomized 24k gold in between layers of durable polymer to create precious metal notes (aka ‘bills’) for everyday transactions. The manufacturing process in the first Aurum® gold note is 5th-generation vacuum deposition technology that produces ‘legal tender currency, collectibles, and commemorative documents with intrinsic value.’” – TraderStef, Jan. 2023
About The Company… “Valaurum’s market share has experienced unprecedented growth, more than doubling in each of the last three years. Today, Valaurum has extensive product offerings available through diverse sales channels including television, national mint distributors, brick and mortar stores, and catalogs. Valaurum products are also available throughout North America, Europe and increasingly, Asia. Within the precious metals industry, Valaurum has become a recognized leader in minting. Valaurum has produced government issues in partnership with five countries and is rapidly expanding legal tender programs to other countries.”
By keeping an eye out for newly-minted Goldbacks, I had the good fortune of purchasing an “ALPHA” version and the first releases of the South Dakota series this past fall. My nieces and nephews discovered a new addition to their collection this year on Christmas morning.
Over the centuries, fiat currencies have always collapsed and eventually gone to zero. The devaluation of a currency’s purchasing power is one of several reasons to invest in and possess some form of physical gold and silver. In a circumstance where you may need to barter or shop with ounces of bullion coins or bars for goods and services, a smaller denomination of gold embedded within a Goldback provides divisibility, the utility of convenience, and the ability to make the same voluntary transactions that pre-1965 U.S. silver coinage (aka “junk silver”) affords. As currencies like the dollar lose value every day due to government debt, geopolitical crises, central bank monetary policy, and inflation, small denominations of physical money in the form of fractional gold or junk silver dimes, quarters, and half dollars in a collapsed economy are an insurance policy that can bump you ahead of the line for food, fuel, shelter, medical services, and any necessity that’s available.
The debate about whether a Goldback has the amount of 24K gold they are claimed to contain was put to rest last month when Mike Adams of Natural News examined samples in his laboratory. That lab is the first ISO-accredited mass-spec lab in the world with ICP-MS instruments, a kiln capable of 1,100 degrees Celsius, and a precision analytical balance that is rigorously tested for the mass of gold present in Goldbacks and its purity. A video presentation is at the bottom of the page. Here is a summary of the results:
- Mass recoveries of 102% to 107% of the required amount of gold across the full range of Goldback bills (1, 5, 10, 25, 50)
- 99%+ purity of the recovered gold tested via mass-spec elemental analysis
- 24K+ purity of the recovered gold tested via off-the-shelf gold karat acid tests (used by jewelers)
Stay alert for the first release of a new Silverback. The first limited-edition collectible silver note was printed by Valaurum in 2020, and PMG graded versions are highly-prized numismatic collectibles. “Each Silverback contains 1/1000th oz 0.999 pure silver. The laminated layers surrounding the silver keep it safe from tarnishing as well as everyday wear and tear. Only 100,000 were minted as a ‘proof of concept’ to do with silver what Goldbacks have done for gold.”
Goldbacks and Silverbacks can be purchased through numerous authorized sellers. Visit them all and note that a few authorized and unauthorized sellers out there are charging well above the average exchange rate for the standard note. I found that Defy The Grid and Alpine Gold’s (associated with Verified Goldbacks) prices were closest to the official exchange rate.
